Agent says Arsenal "want to bring" in Toni Fruk, player profile & who he could replace

0 1

Arsenal had a productive summer transfer window, adding eight signings to the squad.

All of them have played a meaningful role in the ongoing campaign, and the Gunners could further reinforce the squad in the upcoming transfer windows.

The representative of HNK Rijeka midfielder Toni Fruk has now confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s side are exploring a move for the Croatian ahead of the New Year.

In an interview quoted by 24Sata, he said: “Yes, it’s true, Arsenal want to bring him in.”

Who is Toni Fruk?

The 24-year-old is an attacking midfielder by trade, but can operate anywhere in the final third. He has played as a number 10 or as a striker this campaign.

The left-footed ace has chipped in with 10 goals and two assists from 26 appearances.

Aside from his goal involvements, Fruk has impressed with his defensive involvements. He has won almost six duels per league game, with 4.4 recoveries and 1.3 tackles.

The Croatian has also excelled with his high pressing and dribbling skills. He has completed 1.5 take-ons per outing, while creating 11 big chances in the HNL.

Meanwhile, Fruk broke into the national team setup earlier in the summer. He has already earned five caps under manager Zlatko Dalic, providing one assist.

Could Arsenal sign Fruk in January?

Arsenal are well-equipped in the attacking midfield department. Martin Odegaard has been the regular in the role when fit, but now has Eberechi Eze for competition.

Eze scored his maiden hat-trick in the north London derby last month. The 27-year-old is a fierce competitor to Odegaard, but has also played on the left wing.

Apart from the duo, the Gunners have Ethan Nwaneri as a third alternative for the number 10 role.

The Gunners graduate has seen minimal playing time despite signing a new long-term deal last summer. The Daily Mail report that he could be loaned out at the turn of the year.

It could open the door for the Gunners to pursue a bargain signing to fill the void in the squad. Fruk may be recruited if Arteta wants cover in the attacking midfield slot.

He is valued at £7.9 million by Transfermarkt, the same fee Rijeka received for Andrej Kramaric, who was their club-record departure to Leicester City in the winter of 2015.

Rijeka could be prepared to accept a similar deal for Fruk this winter.
