1 big chance, 2 key passes, 88% pass accuracy: Arsenal playmaker puts in standout international display
England U21 rounded off their November international break with a comfortable four–nil victory over Slovakia U21, with Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri standing out in the win.
The young midfielder produced a fine performance that reminded everyone of his talent despite a quiet season at club level.
Nwaneri delivers standout display
England started strongly and took the lead in the 18th minute when Divin Mubama nodded home from close range.
The early goal settled the side, who controlled possession and kept Slovakia under pressure throughout the first half.
After the break, Nwaneri added the second goal in style. The 18–year–old showed great composure as he chipped the ball over the goalkeeper in the 60th minute, extending England’s lead and easing any tension in the side. His calm finish capped off an impressive all–round performance in midfield.
Josh King made it three in the 73rd minute with a neat finish, before Mubama scored again in the 87th minute to seal the win.
The Arsenal youngster featured for 68 minutes and made full use of his time on the pitch. He completed 29 of his 33 passes, giving him an 88 percent passing accuracy.
He also registered two key passes and created one big chance, showing confidence and maturity beyond his age.
In addition, Nwaneri recorded 100 percent long ball accuracy, proving his impressive range of passing and vision in midfield.
Arsenal starlet linked with possible loan move
This season has been a tough one for Nwaneri at Arsenal, as he has featured only nine times in all competitions.
Despite his limited minutes, the midfielder continues to show promise whenever given a platform. His latest performance for England U21 may have strengthened his case for more regular football.
A short spell away from the Emirates could allow him to develop faster and return ready to compete for a place in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Nwaneri’s display against Slovakia showed his technical ability and composure, while his passing numbers highlighted his intelligence on the ball.
His efforts will not go unnoticed by Arsenal’s coaching staff, who continue to monitor his progress closely.
With international duty now over, Nwaneri will turn his focus back to Arsenal as they prepare to face Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates.
After his impressive showing for England U21, the young midfielder will be eager to carry that confidence into club action and push for more opportunities in the months ahead.
