100% dribbles, 5 recoveries, 1 goal: 63-touch Arsenal star delivers dazzling performance on Int'l duty
England secured a 2-0 win over Serbia in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley Stadium on Thursday.
Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka made the starting XI, while Eberechi Eze was a late substitute.
Saka opened the scoring with an excellent volley in the first half. The Three Lions could not double their lead until the 90th minute when Eze unleashed a sublime strike from the edge of the box.
It was a fine evening for the Gunners trio, but Saka was undoubtedly the standout performer.
The 24-year-old had 63 touches in the game, completing 38 out of 45 passes attempted.
He won 100 percent of his dribbles (2/2) and also made five recoveries and three defensive contributions.
Saka has now scored or assisted in his last three caps for the England national side.
The right winger was also on the scoresheet for the Gunners against Sunderland last weekend.
He bagged the equaliser (1-1) at the Stadium of Light. Leandro Trossard made it 2-1 with a stellar strike, but the Black Cats levelled the scores through Brian Brobbey in stoppage time.
England have already qualified for the World Cup, winning each of their seven qualifying games. The Three Lions will complete the campaign against Albania on the road on Sunday.
It won’t come as a surprise if Saka continues on the right wing. Manager Thomas Tuchel is likely to pick his best XI as he prepares England for next summer’s tournament.
Declan Rice is obviously another nailed-on starter. Eberechi Eze came on the left wing to replace Marcus Rashford last night. He could start in the position this weekend.
