Arsenal already have early advantage for Sunday's PL game vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal entertain Crystal Palace in Sunday’s Premier League derby at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have been in brilliant form over the past month. They have picked up six consecutive victories while keeping five clean sheets.
They welcome the Eagles to north London on Sunday afternoon. Ahead of the London derby, the club have already been handed an early advantage.
The Gunners picked up a convincing 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Magalhaes were among the standout performers. The former ended a nine-game goalless streak for club and country with a brace.
Palace, on the other hand, played AEK Larnaca in the Conference League at Selhurst Park earlier tonight.
The south London outfit made just three changes from the 3-3 league draw against Bournemouth, with Adam Wharton, Daichi Kamada and Chris Richards featuring on the bench.
The Eagles have an interval of just 65 hours before their derby at the Emirates. Oliver Glasner’s side have a very short turnaround time to recoup, which should benefit the Gunners.
Several Premier League clubs have done so in the past, but Palace’s situation is somewhat unique, given that they don’t have first-hand experience of playing European games.
The Eagles won 2-0 at Dynamo Kyiv on matchday 1 of the Conference League earlier this month, but this was followed up by a late 2-1 league defeat to Everton on the road.
They will face another stern challenge on Sunday with the short recovery time. Arsenal playing on a Tuesday has already handed them an early advantage, in our opinion.
Mikel Arteta’s side should start as favourites to pick up a seventh consecutive win in all competitions. They will be aiming to avenge last season’s 2-2 draw at the Emirates.
