14 duels won, 9 recoveries: 86-touch Arsenal star had his best performance this season vs Fulham
Arsenal picked up a third-straight Premier League win following a 1-0 triumph over Fulham.
The Gunners had not won in the previous two trips at Craven Cottage. They ended the streak with a solid showing on Saturday.
Leandro Trossard scored the winner in the 58th minute from a Gabriel Magalhaes assist.
Bukayo Saka was the catalyst behind the goal with a fabulous corner from the right flank.
Aside from his cross, Saka had a wonderful all-round performance and helped out Jurrien Timber defensively too.
The England international won a stunning 14 ground and aerial duels and made nine ball recoveries.
Saka also completed six dribbles and induced five fouls. He created seven chances, including a big one for Viktor Gyokeres.
The 24-year-old, who had 86 touches yesterday, was unquestionably the man of the match.
Saka wore the captain’s armband in Martin Odegaard’s absence and delivered his best performance of the season, in our opinion.
He was unlucky not to register a direct assist and came close to scoring, but was denied by a strong save by goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Arsenal climbed back to the top of the standings with a first win at Craven Cottage since 2023.
They have a three-point lead over Manchester City and four ahead of Liverpool, who host Manchester United at Anfield later today.
The club’s faithful will be hoping that the Red Devils can pile more misery on Arne Slot’s side, who have lost their last two league games.
Arsenal’s next encounter will be against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
It promises to be an entertaining affair, given Diego Simeone is one of the best tactical coaches around.
The Gunners have another London derby against Crystal Palace in the league next weekend.
