Arteta makes 2 changes, £39m star returns | Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Fulham with Gyokeres decision
Arsenal will be eyeing a third-straight Premier League win when they face Fulham this evening.
The Gunners are one point ahead of Liverpool at the top of the table, and will aim to extend the advantage with a first win at Craven Cottage since 2023.
Ahead of the game, manager Mikel Arteta could make two changes to the starting line-up.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
David Raya has been an undisputed starter in the Premier League and Champions League games for Arsenal. He has kept four clean sheets in the league campaign. The Spaniard is guaranteed to start between the sticks against Fulham.
In front of him, no changes are expected in the backline. Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori should start in the right and left-back positions respectively, while William Saliba will partner Gabriel Magalhaes in the central defensive department.
However, there will be an enforced change in midfield after Martin Odegaard’s knee injury versus West Ham United. The club captain has suffered yet another setback this season and may not return until after the November international break.
In his absence, Arteta has a simple decision to make. Martin Zubimendi, who was a surprise substitute against the Hammers, should be reinstated in the centre of the park alongside Declan Rice. Eberechi Eze will operate as the attacking midfielder.
Further forward, Bukayo Saka is guaranteed to start on the right wing. The same can be said about Viktor Gyokeres upfront despite his eight-match goalless streak for club and country.
In his pre-match presser, Arteta said that the Swede’s presence has improved the Gunners as he has created space for his teammates to capitalise in the final third this term.
There could be a change on the left wing with Leandro Trossard making way for Gabriel Martinelli, who has four goals and an assist in his last seven games for Arsenal and Brazil.
Trossard has failed to make a goal contribution in his last three league starts. Martinelli had a top outing against Fulham’s Timothy Castagne last time around and bagged an assist.
The £39 million-rated star looks likely to get the nod over Trossard in the starting XI today.
