Arsenal have positioned themselves to sign Gilberto Mora

Arsenal are interested in signing Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora, according to Sport.

The Gunners had a productive summer transfer window with eight additions to the first-team squad.

The club are also planning for the future, and Sport claim that they are keeping tabs on Mora.

Mora, who recently turned 17, has been one of the standout performers at the Under-20 World Cup.

Arsenal, along with Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid, have positioned themselves to sign him.

Mora does not turn 18 until October next year, and a move to Europe won’t happen until January 2027.

Clubs can still negotiate with Tijuana to secure a pre-transfer agreement.

Mora looks like a bright prospect

Arsenal have focused on promoting quality academy graduates into the first team.

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly had their big breakthroughs last season. Max Dowman looks on course for a breakout campaign this term. The 15-year-old won a penalty on his debut.

The club could likewise pursue young talent from abroad. They had their sights on landing Sverre Nypan earlier this summer, but the Norwegian wonderkid chose to join Manchester City instead.

The Gunners recently confirmed the purchase of Shamrock Rovers starlet Victor Ozhianvuna.

Mora appears to be another bright prospect. The 17-year-old started off his young career as an attacking midfielder, but he has also impressed from the left wing and centre-forward positions.

The youngster has bagged three goals and one assist from eight games for Tijuana this term. He recently starred at the Under-20 World Cup for Mexico with five goal contributions before their quarter-final exit at the hands of Argentina.

Aside from his goal involvements, the left-footed ace has caught the eye with his distribution, recoveries, dribbling and duel-winning ability. At the World Cup, he completed 90 percent of his passes with 2.2 recoveries, 2.6 dribbles and 5.6 duels won.

If he continues to impress, Arsenal will no doubt attempt to sign him.
