The £39 million-rated star undoubtedly had his best performance of the season in what was just his second start.

Lewis-Skelly has played second fiddle to Calafiori for the left-back position in the Premier League this season so far.

The latter has capitalised with three goal contributions, but can’t rest on his laurels with Lewis-Skelly knocking on the door.

The teenager was one of Arsenal’s shining lights last term, and will be aiming to capitalise if Calafiori has a dip in league form.

Arsenal host London rivals West Ham United in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Hammers have hampered the Gunners’ title prospects with victories in their last two trips to north London.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be determined to pick up a victory this time around to climb to the top of the standings temporarily.
