Martinelli in, 3 changes | Predicted Arsenal lineup (4-3-3) vs Man City

0 54

Arsenal entertain Manchester City in today’s Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool moved six points ahead of the Gunners after their 2-1 victory over Everton at Anfield.

Mikel Arteta’s side need to respond with three points against a difficult opposition today.

Ahead of the game, we anticipate three changes from the 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Line-up:

David Raya has kept three clean sheets in the Premier League campaign. He faces a stern challenge against Erling Haaland today and will be aiming to come out on top.

In the defence, there will be an expected change with William Saliba returning to the right centre-back role ahead of Cristhian Mosquera, who has been a revelation this term.

Mosquera has barely put a foot wrong in his early Arsenal career, but Arteta should go with the experience of Saliba and Gabriel in central defence to nullify Haaland’s threat.

Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori should be assured starters from the full-back positions.

In midfield, Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice are expected to feature from the off. The former was phenomenal against Nottingham Forest with two goals, including a stunner from outside the box.

Rice was a substitute last weekend after his international duties with England, but he was back in the XI against Atletico where he lined up alongside Zubimendi and Mikel Merino in central midfield.

We expect one change in the department with Martin Odegaard returning to the XI. Odegaard suffered another unfortunate shoulder injury against Forest, but should be fit for the City challenge, in our view.

Arteta said that Bukayo Saka would also be assessed before the game, but he could come off the bench rather than starting ahead of Noni Madueke, having been sidelined in recent weeks with a hamstring injury.

Madueke has been fascinating to watch with his direct runs, dribbling and physicality from the right wing. Hopefully, the Englishman can score his maiden goal for the Gunners against City.

Elsewhere, we anticipate Gabriel Martinelli to be reinstated on the left wing on the back of his goal and assist off the bench against Athletic. He should replace Eberechi Eze, who had a forgettable outing.

Viktor Gyokeres had a couple of chances to find the net in the Basque Country in midweek. The striker has scored three goals at the Emirates and has the opportunity to continue his home scoring form.
