Arsenal tried to agree deal for £43m Serie A winger
Arsenal and Chelsea attempted to sign Juventus forward Kenan Yildiz during the summer transfer window, according to Italian publication Tuttosport.
The Turkey international has developed into a key player for the Bianconeri over the past year. He had a fine 2024/25 campaign with 21 goal contributions from 52 appearances.
Yildiz has added two assists from as many games this season, and Tuttosport claim that both Arsenal and Chelsea tried to pursue his signature from the Bianconeri.
The London duo were met by firm resistance from the Turin giants, who consider the 20-year-old unsellable. Discussions are ongoing with the player’s father and agent regarding a new contract.
Yildiz is happy at Juventus at the current phase of his career.
Yildiz speculation could be agent-driven for a new deal
Arsenal were touted to sign a marquee left winger during the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo was mentioned as a top transfer target, but a deal did not materialise.
The Gunners still found a couple of solutions. Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze have featured on the left wing this term, having arrived from Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively.
In comparison to the duo, Yildiz is more of a natural in the position. He is predominantly a left winger who can also operate from the number 10 role with relative ease.
Yildiz has had a fine start this season with a couple of assists. He has won 6.5 duels with 3.5 recoveries per Serie A game, while completing almost two dribbles on average.
The £43 million-rated star has the traits to become an elite attacker. Tuttosport have linked him with Arsenal, but there were no serious links during the recent window.
It could be a ploy by his representative to expedite talks on an improved contract.
