Arsenal already have new left wing solution as £45m star nears comeback

0 22

Arsenal have had an unbelievable summer transfer window with seven signings.

The Gunners have primarily focused on bolstering the attack with the arrivals of Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres.

The club are presently on the cusp of landing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie as their eighth signing of the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s side will sign the Ecuadorian on loan with an obligation to buy for £45 million.

The 23-year-old could be the Gunners’ final acquisition of the transfer window.

Despite this, the Gunners could have a new left wing solution soon, with Gabriel Jesus on the verge of making his injury comeback.

The Brazilian star was in superb scoring form at the start of the year before he picked up a serious knee injury in the FA Cup third round against Manchester United.

Jesus has made a good recovery since his surgery, and he was spotted back on the grass at London Colney working on his fitness yesterday.

The £45 million signing may need at least another month before reporting for regular team training, but he already feels like a new player, in our view.

Jesus has vastly played as a centre-forward in his career, but he has been reasonably effective on the left wing with 19 goal contributions from 38 outings.

The Palmeiras graduate has showcased his pace on the counter-attack over the years, but can also get out of tight spaces with his quick feet and dribbling skills.

Arsenal have not signed a specialist left winger this summer to compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but they still have many solutions.

Eze and Madueke have played on the left flank occasionally in the past. The summer signings should provide handy competition in the role this campaign.

Jesus could be the latest solution for manager Arteta.

The 28-year-old could have a big part to play in the club’s Premier League title pursuit if he can find his best form and stay unscathed for an extended period.
