Arsenal could now table €51m offer to sign 20-goal star - report

Arsenal could pursue another winger during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have had a productive summer so far, and they have added six players to their ranks.

Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres have been signed to bolster the attack, and there could be one or more additions to the forward department before the transfer deadline.

Corriere della Sera (page 6) now claim that the Gunners could come forward with a €51 million offer to sign Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who has handed in a transfer request.

Inter Milan are the most interested club in the Nigerian attacker, but their latest proposal of €45m was turned down. The Nerazzurri are yet to come up with a renewed offer for Lookman.

It is claimed that Arsenal could look to hijack Inter’s pursuit of the 27-year-old.

Lookman speculation could be driven by Atalanta

Lookman had an impressive 2024/25 campaign with the Bergamo outfit, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists from 40 appearances across all competitions.

He has been a consistent contributor for the Serie A giants and helped them win the Europa League in the season prior to that with a fabulous hat-trick in the final.

The Charlton Athletic graduate is eyeing a new challenge away from Atalanta, but the club are playing hardball over the price despite him handing in a transfer request.

Inter are the only club with a genuine interest in signing him. Atalanta are probably adding Arsenal’s name to the mix in order to encourage a fresh bid from the Nerazzurri.

Lookman would be a fine acquisition for Arsenal, given he predominantly operates from the left flank. He has caught the eye with his direct running, goalscoring and chance creation.

Despite this, Arsenal are not focusing on a deal for him. They are prioritising a move for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and are also looking at a possible loan for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

If Arsenal are unable to pursue their prime targets, they could consider Lookman as an alternative. As things stand, we don’t feel the Gunners are weighing up an approach for him.
