Arsenal make revised bid to sign Igor Tyjon

0 2

Arsenal have been unsuccessful with a second bid to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners have had a productive transfer window with six signings made for the senior squad.

The club are also looking to add quality talent to the academy, and a young striker is among their main priorities.

Arsenal recently failed to convince Will Wright to join them. The 17-year-old has signed for Liverpool from League Two side Salford City.

The Athletic now claim that the Gunners still want a competitor upfront for Andre Harriman-Annous at the Under-21 level.

Blackburn’s Tyjon has been identified as a top target, but the Championship outfit have turned down a second Arsenal bid.

The Gunners were determined to land Wright, who had scored 40 goals in his first season as a scholar for Salford.

They made a higher proposal than the Reds, but could not agree on terms with Wright, who preferred to remain in the North West.

Arsenal are now keen on landing Tyjon, who made a good impression for Blackburn at the Premier League 2 level last term.

The 17-year-old scored four goals from just seven matches and also made two cameo appearances in the Championship for them.

Tyjon has also made eight appearances for England at the Under-17 level, scoring two goals while providing an assist.

He looks like a promising talent. The Gunners have had a couple of bids knocked back, but there is still time for a deal to be reached.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing for a busy week with possible outgoings at the first-team level.

There is interest in signing Fabio Vieira, Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson as well as Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Gunners are aiming to secure respectable amounts for any departure, and are unlikely to entertain cut-price transfers.

This is necessary for the club to extend their spending spree. The hierarchy have already spent close to £200 million on signings.

Arsenal are widely known to be interested in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, but need to recoup funds to afford the £67.5m fee.
