Arsenal blow as £27m star picks up groin injury vs Tottenham Hotspur

0 2

Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard has picked up a groin injury during today’s friendly against Tottenham Hotspur at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.

The Belgium international has been an influential figure in the Gunners squad over the past two-and-a-half years, but his future is uncertain beyond the summer.

Borussia Dortmund are keen on landing his services, while there are also several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the new campaign.

Arsenal have now sustained a big blow with the Belgian ace suffering an injury against Spurs.

The 30-year-old came on as a second-half substitute and was replaced in the 85th minute. He could not carry on after picking up an apparent groin problem.

Trossard was signed by the Gunners for £27 million in January 2023. Arsenal are open to sanctioning his departure for the right price amid interest from many teams.

Mikel Arteta’s side are keen on landing Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and Trossard’s exit would provide the club with initial funds to secure a deal for the 27-year-old.

The exact nature of Trossard’s injury is unknown. We should know more about the concern during the post-match press conference from the manager later today.

Arsenal suffered their first pre-season defeat after a 1-0 loss to Spurs.

Pape Matar Sarr scored from the halfway line with David Raya out of his goal, but Richarlison fouled Myles Lewis-Skelly in the lead-up. There was no VAR to rule it out.

Arsenal have two more friendlies against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates Stadium before the Premier League curtain-raiser at Manchester United on August 17.
