Sky Sports - Arsenal miss out on 6ft 3in striking sensation as he now undergoes Liverpool medical
Salford striker and Arsenal target Will Wright is currently undergoing a medical at Liverpool following an agreement with the League Two club, according to Sky Sports Italia journalist Luca Bendoni.
The Gunners and Reds have been battling over the 6ft 3in 17-year-old in recent weeks, and it appears the Anfield club have emerged victorious, with Wright set to sign a contract to join Liverpool in the coming hours.
Arsenal agreed a fee with Salford for the teenage sensation but personal terms were yet to be agreed as of last week, which handed Liverpool a lifeline.
Wright notched over 50 goals at youth level for his club last season and has been in fine form for their senior team in pre-season friendly matches so far this summer.
Arsenal were keen to add him to their youth ranks as they continue to strengthen their under-21s, but it appears they have missed out on the youngster.
Manchester City and Burnley were also interested in Wright given his huge potential, but it is Liverpool who have pipped them and the Gunners to his services.
He bagged a brace against FC United of Manchester earlier this month before scoring again against Ashton United the following day, and Arsenal scouts saw him in action bag his fourth goal in three games against York City before the match was cancelled.
Adding such a talented player to their youth ranks would have been great for Arsenal as he can potentially save them millions in transfer fees going forward.
Unfortunately, he has opted to move elsewhere and Liverpool will be pleased to land him having come very close to missing out on him.
The Gunners have spent around £200 million this summer after adding Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard to their first-team, and one or two more additions are expected.
