William Saliba now shares injury update after he was subbed off in Arsenal v NUFC
Arsenal centre-back William Saliba was taken off in the 77th minute against Newcastle United today following a head clash with William Osula.
The Gunners star went straight down the tunnel having felt dizzy and there was a massive lump on his head afterwards.
However, Saliba was seen walking around on the pitch at full time and appeared fine, and he confirmed that he has not suffered any injury blow in a major boost for Arsenal.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Riccardo Calafiori, who also got withdrawn after a knock, and an official update is expected on the Italy international defender soon.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta said after the game that Calafiori felt a little tweak but the extent of the knock is currently unknown, and he could be left sweating over his fitness.
Arsenal are back in action on Thursday when they take on bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong, and fans will be eager to see whether Saliba and the Italian will be playing the North London derby.
With the start of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign three weeks ago, injuries are the last things the Gunners want right now, and Arteta will be praying his players return to England unscathed.
They begin the new season with a tough run of games as they face Manchester United, Leeds United, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United in their opening fixtures.
Arsenal have finished second in the Premier League table in each of the last three seasons, and they will fancy their chances of going one better next term after bolstering their squad with some quality additions this summer.
Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard have been signed so far, and it appears the Gunners are not done yet.
