Arsenal put four players on transfer market, two are on pre-season tour - report

0 72

Arsenal have placed four players in the transfer market, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners have had a splendid spending spree this summer. They have spent almost £200 million on six players.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Noni Madueke have joined the club while Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres are expected to do so soon.

The club seem open to another signing, but it could depend on recouping funds from departures.

The Athletic now report that Oleksandr Zinchenko and Reiss Nelson have been made available for a transfer despite making the 30-man squad for the pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong.

Zinchenko has entered the final year of his contract, and Arsenal look poised to offload him. Nelson is attracting loan interest from London club Fulham, but the Gunners prefer his permanent departure.

Alongside them, goalkeeper Karl Hein could be on his way out on either a loan or permanent deal. Fabio Vieira, who is on an extended break after the Club World Cup with Porto, has also been transfer-listed.

Arsenal need to recoup funds to extend spending spree

The Gunners’ primary focus coming into the transfer window was to bolster their attack.

The club have agreed to sign a marquee striker in Gyokeres while Madueke has been added to reinforce the wide attacking department. The Englishman is primarily a right-sided winger.

Manager Mikel Arteta may ideally want a specialist left winger with a good track record. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons are under consideration.

Liverpool and Chelsea are hot on the trail of Rodrygo and Simons respectively. The Blues, in particular, have already started negotiations with Leipzig over the potential transfer of Simons.

Arsenal will need to speed up the process of offloading players. It remains to be seen whether sporting director Andrea Berta can secure decent fees from the exits of the above quartet.

There could be more departures down the line. Leandro Trossard could make way if Arsenal succeed in signing a marquee left winger. The Belgian may leave in search of more minutes.

Jakub Kiwior’s future remains a big question mark. With Mosquera set to add more depth in the central defensive department, the Pole could contemplate a possible move away from the club.
