Arsenal agree fee to sign 6ft 3in striker as ‘outstanding issues’ delaying Mosquera deal come to light
Arsenal have agreed a fee with Salford for 17-year-old striker Will Wright but personal terms are yet to be agreed, according to The Athletic.
The 6ft 3in striker caught the attention of the Gunners and others after bagging over 50 goals at youth level for his club last season.
Wright has been on fine form for the League Two club’s senior team during pre-season, but he will be joining the Arsenal under-21s from the look of things.
The North London club have made some outstanding signings so far this summer but have not yet finalised planned moves for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.
The Spaniard has undertaken medical tests and media ahead of signing, but there are still some outstanding issues to be resolved.
Pictures of him in an Arsenal jersey emerged last week during his interview, and fans have been worried to see that an official announcement has not been made.
The outstanding issues holding up the move are unknown, but they are not likely to be a problem and Mosquera should be getting announced soon.
The Gunners have signed the likes of Noni Madueke, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard so far, while Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres is also expected to join them alongside the Valencia defender.
Arsenal and the Portuguese top-flight club have a broad agreement on a fixed fee of €63.5 million with a further €10m in potential add-ons, but there is some wrangling over the make-up of the €10m add-ons.
Manchester United enquired to Sporting Lisbon about Gyokores last week, but the striker has made clear he is interested only in joining Arsenal, and things could be wrapped up soon between both parties.
