Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera has been spotted leaving training a few minutes ago as he prepares to leave Spain for the United Kingdom and join Arsenal.

The 21-year-old resumed pre-season preparations with the La Liga club last week as it appeared the deal to join the Gunners was stalling, but both clubs have now agreed to a move following talks over the weekend.

Arsenal will be signing Mosquera for €15 million, with less than €5m included as add-ons, and he will be having his medical this week from the look of things.

The Spain youth international will be joining the Emirates Stadium club to provide cover for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and he will fancy his chances of getting regular playing opportunities.

Arsenal had wanted to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth and were ready to activate his €58m (£50m) release clause, but he opted to join Real Madrid and was part of their squad at the just-concluded Club World Cup.

The North London club have now gone for Mosquera as manager Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his options at the back, and they could be completing deals for three new signings in the coming days.

Chelsea attacker Noni Madueke flew into the UK from the United States of America at the weekend for his medical to join Arsenal after both clubs agreed to a deal, while a move for Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres is expected to be wrapped up before the end of the week following fresh developments in recent hours.

They have already added Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard to their squad this month, and completing three more deals before July ends would be huge.

The Gunners begin their pre-season friendly games later this month with matches against AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, wrapping things up in August with games against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao before beginning the 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on August 17.
