Arsenal's extension hopes for attacker contested by new European threat

0 3

Arsenal’s plans for Leandro Trossard have taken another twist, with Bayern Munich now reportedly considering a move for the Belgian forward.

The Gunners appeared to be facing a summer exit for the 30-year-old, with multiple reports last week claiming he had agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce over a three-year deal.

However, that situation stalled, and Arsenal swiftly reopened discussions over a new contract.

Now, Bayern have entered the picture. According to BILD, the Bundesliga giants are monitoring Trossard as a possible alternative to Luis Diaz, for whom a €52 million offer was reportedly rejected by Liverpool.

This development could force Arsenal to move decisively.

Trossard has one year left on his current deal, signed upon joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023, but his representatives have reportedly been pushing for improved terms since last summer.

He is currently on £90,000 per week, a figure well below several key members of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal’s willingness to open contract talks suggests they may want to keep Trossard, who has produced 51 goal contributions in 124 appearances for the club.

The Belgian recently changed his agent, a move often associated with a potential transfer.

Arsenal were said to be open to letting him leave for around £20 million, but Fenerbahce, whose record signing is €19.5 million, have yet to submit an official bid.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Fenerbahce are not in formal negotiations with Arsenal, despite claims that personal terms had been agreed.

That uncertainty has allowed space for Bayern to emerge, with the German side now weighing up a concrete approach if they fail to land Diaz.

Arsenal’s pursuit of attacking players, including Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, could reshape their squad, with Trossard’s future adding complexity to their transfer plans.

Securing the Belgian on fresh terms might lead to a shift in priorities, particularly with Noni Madueke also expected to arrive from Chelsea.

And with Bayern Munich now circling, Arsenal may feel increased urgency to accelerate contract talks if they genuinely wish to keep Trossard beyond this summer.

It is a delicate situation, and one that could still swing either way.
