"Very good chances": €80m star now wants move to Arsenal with terms agreed - Journalist

0 4

Arsenal have had an impressive beginning to the summer transfer window.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was the Gunners’ first acquisition. The club have since confirmed the arrivals of Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke has been permitted to undergo a medical with the Gunners. The Englishman could join the club pretty soon.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has already agreed on personal terms with the Gunners.

The reputed journalist said that Gyokeres’ fantastic chapter with Sporting CP is closed, and he is determined to join Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Swede only ‘wants to go’ to the Gunners. Despite an impasse in negotiations, there are ‘very good chances’ that a transfer will materialise.

Gyokeres to Arsenal only a matter of time

The Gunners have made an offer worth €65 million upfront with add-ons of €5m and €10m. The former of those bonuses are easily achievable.

However, Sporting are looking for a fixed fee of €70m with €10m in easy add-ons to meet the €80m valuation. This has led to the impasse.

Arsenal officials returned to London recently after no progress for two days, but we can anticipate the club to make a renewed approach shortly.

There is only a €5m gap over the fixed package, which Arsenal could be willing to pay. They may also offer more bonuses which can be easily triggered.

Gyokeres has already agreed on terms for a five-year contract. He is publicly pushing for the transfer with his reluctance to report for pre-season at Sporting.

It appears a matter of time before a deal is formalised. Manager Mikel Arteta wants a new striker before the squad travel for the pre-season tour of Asia on July 19.
