David Ornstein: Player now jets into the UK today as Arsenal move nears completion

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke will be flying into the UK today as he closes in on a move to Arsenal, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

The Blues have given the England international permission to leave their Club World Cup camp in the United States and undertake a medical before completing his move to join the Gunners.

Full agreement has been reached between Arsenal and Chelsea on a £52 million deal, and the 23-year-old is signing a 5-year deal with the North London club.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta wants to bolster his attacking ranks ahead of next season, and he reckons the versatile Madueke is perfect for his squad.

He can feature on both wings, and his dribbling and finishing are qualities Arsenal could do with going forward after another disappointing campaign last term.

They need a quality cover for Bukayo Saka on the right and an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left, and the Chelsea star will fancy his chances of hitting the ground running and impressing at the Emirates Stadium club.

Some Arsenal fans have been unable to look past the rivalry between both teams, but Arteta knows better and is putting emotions and sentiments aside as he eyes a Premier League title next season after three consecutive misses.

He has signed the likes of Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling and recently, Kepa Arrizabalaga, from the Stamford Bridge club, and Madueke is unlikely to be the last player that will be joining the Gunners from Chelsea as long as Arteta remains in the dugout.

Arsenal fans will have to wait and see if the Englishman turns out to be a good or poor signing before bringing the pitchforks out.

He will be desperate to prove them wrong and his soon-to-be new teammates will be ready to offer him all the support and love he needs to hit the ground running at the North London club.
