Foreign lure: European giants eye Arsenal attacking asset

0 2

Leandro Trossard could be on the move this summer, with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe stepping up their interest in the Arsenal winger following a breakdown in contract negotiations.

The Belgian international is entering the final year of his deal at the Emirates, and while Arsenal hold an option to extend it by 12 months, discussions over improved terms have failed to yield an agreement.

According to reports from Turkey, Fenerbahçe have initiated contact with Trossard’s representatives, encouraged by the player’s openness to a new challenge and his rejection of Arsenal’s latest contract offer.

Trossard, 30, joined Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for £27 million and has delivered some vital moments in red and white, scoring eight Premier League goals last season.

However, inconsistent starting opportunities and increased competition in attack have led to uncertainty about his long-term role in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Belgian recently changed agencies, parting ways with long-time agent Josy Comhair in favour of Germany-based DH Sports and Entertainment.

The switch has fuelled speculation that he is preparing for a potential move, particularly as Arsenal are active in the market for new attacking reinforcements.

Arteta is targeting a marquee forward this summer, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze both high on the club’s wishlist. Any incoming signings are likely to reduce Trossard’s minutes even further, raising the likelihood of a sale.

Fenerbahçe are reportedly ready to offer Trossard a prominent role as they look to strengthen their left flank ahead of the new season. The Turkish club are chasing high-profile additions under Jose Mourinho’s leadership and see the Belgian as a statement signing.

Arsenal, for their part, have not placed Trossard on the transfer list but are open to serious offers. Given his age and contract situation, a sale could help balance the books as the Gunners navigate Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

Saudi clubs, including Al-Ittihad, previously explored a move for the former Genk man, and interest from the region may resurface if Arsenal open the door to bids.

No formal offers have yet been received, but with the transfer window in full swing and Trossard’s future unresolved, the coming weeks could bring a significant development.

For now, Arsenal remain focused on strengthening the squad — but Trossard’s position is quietly becoming one of the key subplots of their summer.
