Arsenal have now held further talks for £34m star, 23-year-old could be open to transfer - report

Arsenal are likely to make multiple additions to the forward department over the coming weeks.

A marquee striker will be prioritised, but the club are also exploring options for other attacking positions.

Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is the prime target to bolster the left wing, and preliminary talks have been held with his agent.

Amidst this, Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal remain in contact with Noni Madueke’s camp.

The reputed journalist believes the regular talks mean the Chelsea ace could be open to a potential move.

Mikel Arteta’s side have yet to make an official bid for the England international.

He said: “Arsenal remain in contact with Noni Madueke’s camp. To give you my feeling, when people close to the player continue to meet the club, it means that the player could be open to a potential switch.”

“It doesn’t mean Madueke is leaving Chelsea to go to Arsenal, it just means he’s opened the door to a potential move to Arsenal. Now, it depends what Arsenal want to do. At the moment, there is no official bid.”

Madueke could be seen as Bukayo Saka’s backup

The Gunners are prioritising three signings for the forward department. Alongside a new striker, they have their sights on landing a left winger and a versatile playmaker.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres are the prime targets for the centre-forward position. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is being eyed for the left wing.

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze could be signed as the versatile playmaker. The Gunners hold a serious interest in the 27-year-old, who made 25 goal contributions last season.

The interest in Madueke comes as a surprise, given he managed just seven goals and four assists from 32 league games for Chelsea last term. The majority of his appearances were on the right wing.

Madueke managed six appearances from the opposite flank, but did not have a single goal involvement. It is clear that he is a specialist right winger and may struggle to adapt on the left.

Unless Arsenal are looking for a quality backup to provide cover for Saka, a move does not make sense. With Ethan Nwaneri in the squad, there does not appear a need for one.

If the club were to pursue a deal for Madueke, it could depend on the fee. Arsenal have no plans to meet the £50 million asking price for the former PSV Eindhoven star at the moment.

The Blues have recently signed Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, and are open to landing another wide player. Arsenal could play the waiting game to secure a big discount on Madueke.

The 23-year-old currently has a Transfermarkt value of £34m. Arsenal could be willing to do business with the Blues if they are prepared to accept a similar package, in our opinion.
