Arsenal have now tabled fresh offer to sign 21-year-old Spanish star - report
Arsenal have made a renewed offer to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera this summer, according to Spanish journalist Hector Gomez.
The Gunners plan to strengthen their central defensive department, and they have identified Mosquera as their prime target after missing out on Dean Huijsen.
Mosquera’s current deal with Valencia expires in June 2026, and he has already turned down a contract renewal as he wants to play for Arsenal next season.
Gomez now reports that Arsenal have made a second offer, which has been quickly rebuffed.
The proposal from the Gunners was slightly above €10 million, and not even close to €14m.
Valencia want at least €20m on the negotiation table to part ways with the 21-year-old.
Mosquera to Arsenal is a matter of time
The Spain youth international has already given the green light to join the Gunners. Personal terms have been verbally agreed on a long-term contract.
The onus is now on Arsenal to negotiate a suitable fee with Los Che. The Spanish club are reluctant to sell him on the cheap and are seeking at least €20m.
However, the Gunners should be optimistic of getting a discount on the price, given Mosquera has a ‘very clear’ intention of joining the club this summer.
In our view, an agreement could be reached on a middle ground figure of around €15m, considering Mosquera has entered the last year of his contract.
The 21-year-old should be a fine acquisition for Arsenal. He is a strong ball-playing centre-back and had a passing accuracy of 91 percent in La Liga last term.
The Spaniard also won 60 percent of his duels with 5.1 recoveries, 3.3 clearances and 1.5 tackles. He can operate in both centre-back roles as well as at right-back.
He would represent a bargain signing, considering his young age and has vast potential. It appears only a matter of time before the Gunners sort out a suitable deal.
