Arsenal could sign another defender after Mosquera with £150k per wk star ready to depart - report
Arsenal could move for a new full-back if Oleksandr Zinchenko heads for the exit door this summer, according to Daily Mail journalist Isaan Khan.
The Gunners have been active during the early part of the transfer window.
The club have already signed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, while midfield duo Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard are expected to join soon.
Arsenal are also in negotiations with Valencia for the transfer of Spanish centre-back Cristhian Mosquera.
In a Q&A session on Daily Mail, Khan now claims that a full-back could well be considered after Mosquera if Zinchenko leaves the Gunners as expected.
He said: “Cristhian Mosquera is expected to sign from Valencia & a full-back could well be considered if Oleksandr Zinchenko is, as expected, leaves the club.”
A full-back signing would be a huge surprise
Arsenal are well covered in the right-back department for next season. The Gunners have Jurrien Timber and Ben White to compete for places.
Mosquera is a central defender by trade, but the Spaniard played as a right-back for Valencia during the back end of the previous campaign.
The 21-year-old would be another option for manager Mikel Arteta to consider if he joins the club.
Similarly at left-back, Arsenal have no concerns over the squad depth in our view.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has pretty much become the first-choice left-back ahead of Riccardo Calafiori.
Timber and Jakub Kiwior can switch to the position if required.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is presently sidelined following knee surgery, but the Japanese star is another option at left-back once he returns to full fitness.
In our view, Arsenal are well covered in both full-back departments and don’t require a new addition.
Zinchenko, who earns £150,000 per week, has his sights on joining AC Milan this summer. He is prepared to accept a salary reduction.
Arsenal could receive around £17m from his transfer to the Rossoneri, who are eyeing a replacement for Saudi-bound Theo Hernandez.
