Boost as Euro club & their boss now open to letting 24y/o Arsenal target leave, Gunners in talks with his reps

Real Madrid and their manager Xabi Alonso are open to Arsenal target Rodrygo leaving the club this summer, according to The Athletic.

The Gunners have held preliminary talks with the representatives of the Brazil international in recent weeks, with their coaching staff huge admirers of his versatility and quality.

Rodrygo can play on both wings and even as a number 9, and Arsenal are keen to do a deal if the conditions are right.

He has featured for just 23 minutes at the ongoing Club World Cup after making his first appearance for Madrid in 53 days during their opener against Al Hilal on June 18, remaining on the bench against Pachuca and Juventus.

The Arsenal target has had to feature mostly from the bench in recent months, with Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham playing ahead of him.

His agent complained to the club, but it did not go down well with them as Rodrygo hardly impressed when given the opportunities, and they opened the door to a potential sale heading into the summer.

It appears Alonso is not a great fan of the attacker despite his assist in the 1-1 draw against Al Hilal, which could be good news for Arsenal as they look to bolster their options in the final third heading into the next campaign.

He notched 13 goals across all competitions last term, assisting ten times, and he could prove to be a valuable addition to the Gunners attack.

Rodrygo prefers playing on the left and has argued that his natural position is on the left flank, but both Vinicius Jr and Mbappe also prefer playing there, and an exit could be the best solution for him.

He could be an upgrade on the current options Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has in the role at the moment, and a move to the Emirates Stadium club could be on the cards in the coming weeks.
