Arsenal are now poised to sign Danish star with all documents transferred - report
Arsenal are close to securing another signing during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been active in the transfer market over the past week.
The club confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on Tuesday.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is expected to be unveiled this afternoon.
Brentford’s Christian Norgaard will be the next with ‘all paperwork’ exchanged, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Norgaard should be a good backup signing
The Gunners stepped up their pursuit of the 31-year-old after it was clear that Thomas Partey would not extend his contract beyond June 30.
Partey was not convinced to prolong his stay as a backup for Zubimendi. The club have moved on from him to sign Brentford captain Norgaard.
The Denmark international made 34 appearances for the Bees in the top flight last term. He won 62 percent of his aerial duels with 5.7 recoveries.
Norgaard also registered an impressive 2.3 tackles and 1.9 clearances per outing. He only completed 83 percent of his passes, but that should be higher with Arsenal’s possession-based football.
The Dane is a classical holding midfielder who likes to break up play and would suit the Gunners. Norgaard also chipped in with five goals and four assists in the league last season.
His services could be utilised during the backend of games to see out results. At £10 million upfront, he represents a good acquisition for the Gunners.
He is in the final phase of his career, but his experience and leadership skills should come in handy. His performances went under the radar at Brentford.
After Zubimendi and Norgaard, Arsenal look likely to sign Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera. The centre-back ‘wants to play‘ for the Gunners after snubbing a new contract.
