Journo with 1.8m X followers claims Arsenal star is leaving the club after 52 games last term

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to leave the North London club and has been offered to Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, according to Turkish journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu.

The journalist, who boasts 1.8 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and is followed by the likes of Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs, made the claim about the Gunners star today.

“He is leaving Arsenal,” Sabuncuoglu said.

“He has been offered to Gala/Fener according to what I heard, his management is finding a team for him.”

The Ghana international played 52 games across all competitions last term but is out of a deal on June 30 and talks have been ongoing between his representatives and Arsenal.

Both parties have not been able to reach an agreement and it appears Partey is heading for the exit door, with a move to the Turkish top-flight mooted.

The 32-year-old is also on the radar of Barcelona while Atletico Madrid want him back, and more suitors are expected to emerge once it becomes clear he is available for free.

It was reported back in April that Partey would be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season after talks broke down, and while the club announced earlier this month that they are in talks with him and will make an official announcement once a decision is reached, it seems an exit is on the cards.

He also has suitors from the Saudi Pro League but remaining in Europe for a few more years could appeal to him following his impressive performances for the Gunners last term.

Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi is expected to come in as his replacement, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also has Mikel Merino and Myles Lewis-Skelly as options in the defensive midfield position.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will miss the impact of Partey in the middle of the park if he leaves, but they could really do with his quality and experience and should offer him a deal which matches his services.
