Arsenal Women pushing to sign 27-year-old Euro-winning forward

0 3

Arsenal Women have been given a period of exclusivity in their bid to sign Chloe Kelly on a permanent deal, according to journalist David Ornstein.

Kelly spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal from Manchester City.

The 27-year-old winger made a strong impact, helping the Gunners win the Women’s Champions League. Her current contract with Man City expires at the end of June.

Several Women’s Super League clubs and teams overseas have shown interest in signing her. However, Kelly has instructed her agents to prioritise Arsenal in ongoing talks.

Arsenal keen to bring Kelly back permanently

Talks between Kelly’s camp and Arsenal are progressing over a three-year contract.

If they fail to reach an agreement, she will open discussions with other interested clubs.

The England Women’s international made 13 appearances for Arsenal last season, including six starts in the league.

Kelly had limited opportunities at Man City, making just one league start.

There is strong mutual respect between Kelly and Arsenal, where she began her senior career before leaving in 2018.

That shared history, combined with her success during the loan spell, has helped create a solid foundation for ongoing negotiations.

Kelly is with the England squad as they prepare for the Women’s European Championship tournament in Switzerland.

She is best remembered for scoring the winning goal in extra time during the Women’s Euro 2022 final against Germany.

That moment sealed the title and placed her among the nation’s most celebrated female players.
