Arsenal's £150M dream striker: PL rivals' £60M attacker could unlock Gunners' top target

0 0

There has been plenty of noise around Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko, but if Newcastle United truly sign Joao Pedro, Arsenal’s clearest route to the perfect striker becomes wide open.

For all the talk of alternatives, Alexander Isak has remained the most compelling option for Mikel Arteta’s side. His profile — tall, technical, mobile and clinical — fits Arsenal’s system like a glove.

He can drop deep, run the channels and finish with either foot. More importantly, he carries a flair and unpredictability that separates him from the rest of the market.

So far, the belief has been that prising Isak away from St James’ Park would be financially prohibitive. Newcastle reportedly value him at a Premier League record fee. But if the Magpies go ahead and close a deal for Joao Pedro, that posture may begin to soften.

Eddie Howe is a long-time admirer of Pedro, and Newcastle have revived interest in the Brazilian forward after abandoning their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo.

Pedro’s £60 million price tag is steep, but not unreasonable for a 22-year-old who scored 20 goals last season and fits Newcastle’s multi-positional attacking model.

More tellingly, his arrival could offer internal cover for Isak, either as competition or a contingency if a major offer lands.

That scenario would be ideal for Arsenal. It creates a moment of opportunity that may not resurface soon.

While Sporting’s Gyokeres remains a powerful option and Sesko continues to tempt, neither possess Isak’s blend of elegance and experience in the Premier League.

Isak knows English football. He has shown he can lead the line in high-stakes games. And he is still only 25, with his best years likely to coincide with Arsenal’s peak.

Funds are not an issue. Arsenal’s Champions League runs and stable domestic finish have left them in a position of strength.

If Newcastle invest in Pedro, they may listen more closely to serious bids for Isak. That is the moment to act.

Arsenal waited for the right time with Declan Rice. They may now have their chance to do the same with Isak.

If Arteta wants a striker who changes games at the highest level, Isak is still the one. And thanks to Pedro, that door may have creaked open again.
