Arsenal set to receive seven-figure sum for transfer of 22yo Brazilian winger - report
Arsenal are set to receive more than £2.5 million for the permanent transfer of winger Marquinhos to Cruzeiro, according to Standard Sport.
Marquinhos signed for the Gunners from Sao Paulo as a relatively unknown player in 2022.
He had a brilliant debut, scoring a goal and providing an assist against FC Zurich in the Europa League.
However, he has since made just five more appearances for the Gunners. He has not played for the club since January 2023, spending time on loan with four separate clubs.
Marquinhos was loaned out to Cruzeiro until December 2025, but he is now expected to join the Brazilian outfit on a permanent basis. Arsenal will retain a sell-on clause.
Arsenal set to part ways with Marquinhos
The 22-year-old showed plenty of promise during his debut against FC Zurich, but he managed only two more starts for the Gunners before his loan spell at Norwich City.
Marquinhos has since spent time on loan with Nantes, Fluminense and Cruzeiro. Cruzeiro have been convinced to sign him permanently after 18 appearances this campaign.
Arsenal have accepted a minor loss on Marquinhos, having purchased him for £2.95m. Hopefully, Marquinhos can make good progress and return to Europe in the coming years.
In that way, the Gunners will stand to benefit from the sell-on clause.
Aside from Marquinhos, Arsenal are also expected to offload Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reiss Nelson following their respective loan spells.
Vieira will feature for Porto at the upcoming Club World Cup. A strong showing would boost Arsenal’s prospects of securing a reasonable fee from his exit.
