Arsenal are likely to bolster their forward department during this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners finished 10 points behind champions Liverpool in the Premier League last term.

They lacked the cutting edge in the final third and shared the spoils on 14 occasions.

Arsenal must spend big on a marquee striker, and Sky Germany journalist Philipp Hinze reveals that the Gunners are ‘the only club’ to have made ‘concrete’ contact with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko.

Contact has been established with the Slovenian striker too.

Manchester United are also interested in the 22-year-old but have not yet negotiated with Leipzig.

Hinze wrote on X: “Arsenal are the only club to have made concrete contact with Leipzig so far. Manchester United are interested but have not yet negotiated with Leipzig. Arsenal are so far the only club in contact with both sides – with RB Leipzig and with Sesko.”

Arsenal need to be proactive in purchasing Sesko

Sesko registered 21 goals and six assists from 45 appearances for Leipzig last season.

His statistics are not exceptional, but the former Red Bull Salzburg man has a huge ceiling. He had an impressive shot-to-goal conversion rate of 20 per cent and scored some brilliant long-range goals.

Sesko has similar playing traits as Haaland in the box. He possesses a strong aerial presence. However, he offers much more with his mobility and would fit perfectly into Mikel Arteta’s tactical set-up.

Arteta has been pushing for his signature for the past year, and Arsenal must be proactive in the pursuit to avoid the possibility of Manchester United or any other club hijacking the potential deal.

Leipzig are holding out for his £67 million release clause. Sporting director Andrea Berta is in talks with the German outfit, and the Gunners must sort out payment terms as soon as possible.

If an outcome can’t be reached, they should turn attention to Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres, who has already given the green light to join the club. He will cost around £59m this summer.

Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also interested in landing the Swede. Arsenal must finalise an agreement for one of their striker targets and should avoid prolonging talks for several weeks.
