Video: Watch Arsenal sensation Max Dowman notch ridiculous goal for England under-17s

Arsenal have included 15-year-old Max Dowman as a part of the club’s pre-season preparations this summer following an impressive season with their youth teams, and he proved exactly why there have been calls for him to be included in the first-team with a fine goal for the England under-17s against their Czech Republic counterparts today.

The teenage sensation and Gunners goalkeeper Jack Porter are currently with the young Three Lions at the under-17 European Championship, and Dowman is getting attention with his performances.

The Arsenal academy starlet opened the scoring this evening with a goal that left social media users stunned, and it is not a surprise that he has been tipped to make his Premier League debut next season.

Dowman notched 19 goals and five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions for the Arsenal youth teams this term, with 14 goals and three assists coming in his last seven games for the under-18s.

Having regularly trained with the Gunners senior team, the teenager is acquiring the much-needed experience ahead of his expected foray into Premier League football next term, and he is starting to look head and shoulders above his peers.

Several Premier League academies have approached his father to register their interest in him, and the Gunners know they cannot afford to lose such a huge talent.

Dowman cannot sign a scholarship deal with Arsenal until he turns 16 on December 31, 2025, with the earliest point they can officially sign him to scholarship terms being ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 5ft 7in sensation, who plays on the right wing, in central midfield and in a No 10 role behind the striker, made history in the UEFA Youth League last September, scoring against Atalanta aged 14 years, eight months and 19 days to become the youngest player to find the back of the net in the history of the European competition.

Dowman could not be involved in the Champions League with the first-team due to rules regarding players being of a certain age – a player must be 16 and above to feature in the elite European competition.

Ethan Nwaneri currently holds the record for youngest player to feature for Arsenal in the English top-flight after coming off the bench for his debut against Brentford in September 2022 aged 15 years and 181 days, but Dowman is getting closer to breaking it and all eyes will be on him when he does.
