Arsenal ‘hard at work trying to sign’ 21y/o prodigy ‘doing wonders this season’

0 0

Arsenal are hard at work trying to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos ahead of the summer transfer window, according to French outlet Le10Sport.

The 21-year-old has ‘been doing wonders this season’ while on loan at Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, and the Gunners are not the only team keen on recruiting his services this summer.

Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder and have all but wrapped up a deal for Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, but they could lose Thomas Partey if he does not sign an extension amid ongoing talks, and Santos has caught their eye.

Paris Saint-Germain are also looking to snap up the Brazil international after an impressive time in the French top-flight, with nine goals and three assists to his name in 31 league games.

Arsenal could do with such a midfielder in their ranks as they need goals from every outfield position, but whether Chelsea will be open to strengthening a rival remains to be seen.

The youngster plays as a defensive midfielder and central midfielder, with tackling, winning aerial duels and blocking the ball his major strengths.

Santos joined Chelsea from Brazilian Serie A side Vasco da Gama in 2023, spending the first-half of 2023-24 on loan in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest before leaving for Strasbourg in February 2024 after only two appearances.

He has since found his feet in France and will fancy his chances of impressing in the Premier League next season, but returning to Chelsea could prove tricky given the options ahead of him in the middle of the park.

The Blues could be open to sending him out on loan again, and whether it is an option Arsenal would consider is unknown.

Santos is not the only player the Gunners are looking to lure away from their London neighbours, having reportedly offered them £1.25 million for the services of England under-18 goalkeeper Freddy Bernal.
