Serie A giants eye move for 'massive' Arsenal star, Gunners want to keep him
Juventus have renewed their interest in Arsenal star Thomas Partey, Calciomercato reports.
The Gunners are heading into another crucial summer transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of another potential title challenge.
After finishing as runners-up to Manchester City for two years in a row, the Gunners were widely expected to crown their effort with a maiden Premier League title in over two decades.
Their objective received a massive boost with City struggling to defend their crown for the fifth year running.
However, Mikel Arteta and co didn’t account for Arne Slot’s instant impact at Liverpool as the Dutchman steamrolled to the title in his debut campaign.
For most parts of the season, Arsenal pushed Liverpool to the edge but lacked the consistency to take the title race down to the wire.
At some point, they prioritised the Champions League over their domestic plans, and even that blew up in their faces.
Arteta’s side were eliminated at the semi-final stage after losing 3-1 on aggregate to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
With nothing left to fight for and the Gunners heading for a fifth consecutive trophyless season, the attention once again turns to the summer market.
Arsenal are expected to be very busy once the transfer window opens. There are a number of players who could leave the club, and Partey is one of them.
The Ghanaian has shaken off the injury woes that have plagued his Arsenal career since joining from Atletico Madrid.
In fact, Partey has become a mainstay in Arteta’s line-up, so much so that the club are now considering keeping him beyond this summer.
Contract negotiations are already underway between both parties, but Juventus are closely monitoring the midfielder’s situation.
It’s not the first time Juventus have sounded out an interest in Partey. The Old Lady did so last summer but were priced out of a deal by Arsenal.
They could end up snapping him up for free, but that depends on the outcome of negotiations between Partey and the club.
