Luis Enrique's bold call: PSG plan revealed for semi-final tomorrow
Luis Enrique has called on Paris Saint-Germain to stay true to their attacking identity when they host Arsenal in the Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes.
The Ligue 1 champions carry a slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, where Ousmane Dembele struck early to hand PSG control of the tie.
Dembele remains a fitness doubt due to a hamstring issue, though Enrique confirmed he trained with the squad and will be available for selection.
Speaking in Tuesday’s press conference, the PSG boss insisted his team would not sit on their lead.
“We do not want to leave anything to chance,” Enrique said. “We want to be aggressive, impose our personality on the ball, and keep doing what has brought us this far.”
He dismissed suggestions that any one part of his team had outshone the rest this season, emphasising collective consistency.
“This team competes regardless of who is playing,” he added. “We do not speculate. Our strength is our ability to stick to clear principles both home and away.”
Enrique praised his players for the belief they have shown throughout the campaign and highlighted the mental strength needed for such high-stakes matches.
“We know we will suffer at times,” he said. “But we trust in ourselves and in our fans to lift us. Confidence and emotional intelligence are key.”
On Arsenal, Enrique acknowledged the threat posed by his former teammate Mikel Arteta, who he described as a strong character and an excellent coach.
“Arsenal will make it difficult for us again,” he admitted. “They are a top side, but so are we.”
Achraf Hakimi echoed his manager’s confidence, highlighting the squad’s experience and calmness ahead of such a decisive fixture.
“We have learned from last season’s semi-final,” he said. “We know what we did well and what we need to repeat.”
Hakimi also reserved praise for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose recent form he described as a source of “tranquillity” for the rest of the team.
With a place in the final in Munich at stake, Enrique remained focused on the performance, not the pressure.
“We are here because we deserve to be,” he said. “Now we must show it again.”
