Arsenal lost 1-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The Gunners were second-best for the opening 20 minutes and could have easily conceded more than one goal in that phase.

David Raya could not prevent Ousmane Dembele from scoring but made a terrific save to deny Desire Doue from doing so.

Arsenal grew in confidence as the game progressed, but they were guilty of squandering a couple of clear-cut chances.

On the performance front, Myles Lewis-Skelly was brilliant from the left-back position and was probably the best Arsenal player.

The 18-year-old has shown plenty of maturity at a young age and brought more control to proceedings after the first 20 minutes.

The teenager won seven out of nine duels contested with a passing accuracy of 100 percent.

He also won 100 percent of his dribbles and lost possession just twice. Lewis-Skelly drew five fouls from the opposition last night.

Lewis-Skelly produced a stunning defence-splitting pass for Gabriel Martinelli, but the Brazilian squandered the one-on-one opportunity.

The French media were certainly impressed by his efforts against Les Parisiens.

Maxifoot gave him the highest rating at 6.5 among Arsenal players. The outlet said Lewis Skelly ‘confirmed his immense potential in a major European match’.

He was praised for nullifying the threat of Doue.

Foot Mercato rated him at 6. Though Lewis-Skelly struggled in the first 20 minutes, he was praised for stepping up and creating a big chance for Martinelli.

OneFootball‘s French site said the left-back is ‘still as impressive and disconcerting as ever’. The youngster was handed a 7/10 rating for muzzling Doue ‘very well’.

Lewis-Skelly was one of the stand-out performers for the Gunners. He managed to gain control after a difficult start and won plenty of fouls higher up the pitch.

Arsenal could not find a late equaliser but the tie is firmly balanced. The club have everything to play for in the second leg at Parc des Princes next Wednesday.

The Gunners could have lost by a bigger margin of two or three goals.

Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos squandered late chances for Les Parisiens. At 1-0, the London giants should go to Paris next week with plenty of optimism.
