3/14 duels, 0/3 dribbles: Andrea Berta should now replace £48m Arsenal star, lost 12x possession vs Brentford

0 1

Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners struggled to find the cutting edge in the final third versus the Bees.

There were several average performers at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Martinelli was one of those.

The £48 million-rated star won just four out of 13 duels contested. He was unsuccessful with three dribbles and lost possession on 12 occasions.

Martinelli had 42 touches yesterday but registered just 15 successful passes. Sporting director Andrea Berta was in the stands watching the game.

In our view, Berta must find an upgrade on Martinelli on the left wing, who has failed to make regular goal contributions over the course of the season.

Leandro Trossard has been a good deputy but has struggled too this term.

The Belgian has shown signs of regression and has been hugely inconsistent over recent months.

Arsenal are not close to recruiting anyone at the moment, but it is known that manager Mikel Arteta would like to sign Athletic’s Nico Williams.

The Spaniard is one of the best wingers in La Liga and would provide a fresh and better solution for the manager ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

In case Williams arrives, Trossard would be the most likely candidate to leave the club this summer.

We won’t be surprised if Arsenal were to consider offers for Martinelli too in the next transfer window.

The Gunners also have their sights on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha, who can operate on the left wing, as a number 10 or upfront.

Berta can make a massive statement by bringing Williams and Cunha to Arsenal this summer.
