Beckham: «El deporte que amamos está en peligro»

Las reacciones al proyecto de la Superliga europea de fútbol se siguen sucediendo hora tras hora. A los comunicados de clubes y organismos afectados por esta escisión en el balompié continental se suman las opiniones de futbolistas y entrenadores, en activo o ya retirados, que critican o alaban el nuevo proyecto. Hasta el momento son muchos más los que se oponen a la nueva forma de ver el fútbol que supone esta nueva competición de carácter privado y que entra en contradicción con la actual Champions League, torneo de clubes estrella de la UEFA. Los últimos en añadir su voz a la de los críticos son dos leyendas del Manchester United, uno de los doce clubes fundadores de la Superliga, David Beckahm y Eric Cantona. El inglés, que llegó a vestirse la camiseta de tres de los clubes implicados en esta escisión del fútbol europeo (Manchester United, Real Madrid y AC Milan), fue muy contundente con un mensaje compartido en las redes sociales. «Soy alguien que ama el fútbol. Ha sido mi vida desde que tengo memoria. Me encantó desde que era un niño pequeño cuando era fan, y todavía lo soy ahora. Como jugador y ahora como propietario sé que nuestro deporte no es nada sin la afición. Necesitamos que el fútbol sea para todos. Necesitamos que el fútbol sea justo y necesitamos competiciones basadas en el mérito.
