Allegations of irregular betting activities during the European Water Polo Championships held in Belgrade in January are currently under review. European Aquatics wishes to underline that it treats all matters related to integrity in sport with the utmost seriousness.
For reasons of transparency and to safeguard the reputation of water polo, the Integrity Units of World Aquatics, European Aquatics, and the Aquatics Sports Association of Malta will work in close collaboration throughout the investigation process, following a clear agreement between all parties.
Our Independent Integrity Unit is currently reviewing the available information in close cooperation with the Aquatics Integrity Unit and ASA Malta, under the leadership of its President, Karl Izzo. We would like to acknowledge his cooperation and diligence in this matter.
