Funchal 2026: European Water Polo Championships press conference live stream
The excitement levels are building as the women’s European Water Polo Championships is set to begin on Monday 26 January in Funchal, Portugal, and the pre-competition press conference will be held on Saturday 24 January and be streamed live from the island of Madeira at 12 noon local time (1pm CET).
Attending the press conference will be the head coach of the defending champions Netherlands, Evangelos Doudesis, and their captain Maartje Keuning.
Mia Simunic, the head coach of Croatia, will also be sharing her thoughts on the tournament, alongside Croatia player Jelena Butic.
From the host nation, Portugal, head coach Ferran Pascual and his players Ines Nunes (captain) and Maria Machado will talk about their expectations for the next two weeks, plus how proud their country is to be hosting the prestigious sporting event.
European Aquatics President Antonio Silva will open the press conference by giving a welcome video speech from Belgrade, Serbia, where the men’s European Water Polo Championships will finish on Sunday.
Mr. Miguel Arrobas, President of the Portuguese Swimming Federation, Councillor Helena Leal from Funchal City Council, responsible for Education, Health, Social Affairs and Inclusion, Youth and Sport, and Mr. Eduardo Jesus, Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, will also comment on the highly anticipated tournament.
