We are currently recruiting for a newly created role of Water Polo Officer to join our dynamic team in the Clubs and Competitions Department. This is an exciting time as we are currently going through a reinvigorating of the department with the introduction of a new Club and Discipline Development Manager at the same time. The successful candidate will report into the Development Manager as well as work closely with the Water Polo Administrator to help drive the development of the sport of water polo.

 

Role and Reporting Structure

The successful candidate will report into the Club & Discipline Development Manager and will be responsible for the overall administration and development of the sport of water polo. The role holder will have a strong administrative background and an interest in the sports industry.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility will include: (Full Job Description available)

 

Support the National Committee in the administration of their duties which include:

  • Player transfers
  • Grant applications and funding opportunities
  • Website and Social Media
  • Oversee all aspects of the National Cups and Leagues
  • Annual Conference and Competitions Workshop
  • Competition Management
  • Pool bookings and facility stakeholder liaison
  • Club and Member communication

 

National Leagues

The National Leagues run from September to May every year with leagues starting from U14 up to Senior level water polo on a weekly basis.

  • Assigning table officials
  • Updating Water Polo Match App
  • Oversee succesful running and the delivery of administrative duties for all National Leagues
  • Liaise with all key stakeholders for succesful delivery of all leagues

 

National Cups

There are seven cup competitions per season taking place in different venues across Ireland catering for junior and senior water polo athletes.

  • Support the National Competitions Committee on the administration of National Cups
  • Oversee the succesful delivery of all National Cups

 

Education Department Supports

  • Liaising with Education in relation to the delivery of WP courses
  • Support the role out of Mini Polo as part of the Swim Ireland Community Programmes
  • Support the roll out of the referee’s development pathway
  • Liaise with regional representatives and Education Department in relation to the Water Polo Education needs
  • Assist in the organising of the annual water polo coaching conference

Other

  • Provide content for monthly Clubs and Competitions newsletter
  • Attend Swim Ireland conferences, competitions and events as required
  • Support other departments in Swim Ireland in the delivery of their work
  • Support the roll out of Swim Ireland initiatives
  • Support the development of the sport of water polo in Ireland
  • Other duties as required

 

Education and Experience

  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Project delivery experience
  • Relevant Qualification (e.g., administration/project management/development)
  • Industry knowledge

Essential Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT and software packages including database management, MSOffice, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of sports administration
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering and evaluating successful programmes and events
  • Project management experience

Remuneration and Location

  • The package will include a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience to commence at €30,000 per annum
  • Position Tenure: 3-year fixed-term full-time contract
  • Position Location: Swim Ireland Head Office, Irish Sport HQ, Sport Ireland Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15

  • Garda Vetting; and
  • Suitable reference checks.
