Sports briefs: Woodhead, Barker earn all-conference water polo honors

Quinn Woodhead and Wyatt Barker, two local alumni, earned all-conference honors for men’s water polo in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the conference announced Wednesday.

Woodhead, a Drake grad and current junior at Stanford, was named to the first-team MPSF. Woodhead scored 10 goals on the season for the Cardinal, who went 3-3 in MPSF play this the season and are currently ranked No. 2 in the country.

Barker, a Redwood grad and current senior at USC, was an honorable mention selection. Barker scored 11 goals on the year for the No. 4 Trojans, who are 4-7 on the year.

Both USC and Stanford will be playing in the MPSF tournament starting Friday. Stanford, the No. 3 seed, will face the winner of the Austin-Penn State Behrend matchup at 1 p.m. while USC, the No. 4 seed, will face the loser at 4 p.m.
