Season 1 - Round 1 - 2017

Draw for Round 1

Welcome to season 1 for 2017

For those of you who aren’t familiar with how Premier League runs, for the first couple of weeks there is generally some movement between divisions and new teams coming in late, which means that the draw can change quite a bit during that initial period. For this reason I will publish it later in the week, usually by the weekend, but not always depending on how busy I am and how big the changes are. The big news this year is that we are going to move to electronic scoring using tablets.  This week we will still be using paper score sheets as we have previously. Hopefully next week we will start to test the electronic scoring on tablets on some games.

Online registration and payment along with the new website will be going online some time this week. I'm currently testing the online payments to make sure they're safe and secure.

I have a few people that haven't got teams - we are looking for more men for an Men's A Reserve team in particular. If you put your name down at the musters and I haven't gotten in touch or if you can't find your team on the draw, then please contact me - it's been a very busy past few weeks, so I'm sure I've overlooked some things.

I have 10 teams for Women's B Grade - I have moved a couple temporarily, and I am looking to even out the division numbers, but if you are concerned about the division you have been placed in, please get in contact with me at admin@tva.org.au. I will release a division list after the first round on Tuesday night.

This season we will have 10 weeks of round robin competition folwed by 2 weeks of finals. We will have a 3 week break for school holidays, and unfortunately our first night after the break will be Anzac day. I was reluctant to have a 4 week break, so at this stage we will be playing on that night.  I'm hoping most people won't be away, but please let me know if your team won't be able to make it that night.  With that in mind - can teams please let me know if there are nights when they won't be able to make it - school camps are a big one that many overlook. Let me know early so I can organise a bye rather than a forfeit.

What do I do if my team is unavailable?

As above, if you are aware that your team is unavailable, please let me know as soon as possible. If something does happen and you become aware that your team cannot play, please contact me and I will deal with it. E-Mail is my preferred method, but after lunch on Tuesday, the best way is via text message or a phone call on 0416 190 949.

Please don’t contact the other teams affected yourself, as it can create confusion as to what is happening – I will be doing my best to arrange a scratch match at the very least to give the players a game. If you are unable to do a duty, I will be asking if any other team from your school/club can help cover the duty. By the end of the season, I try to ensure teams will do the same number of duties as the rest of the teams in their division. Sometimes this means that you may get 2 weeks in a row, but most of the time it will be every 2nd week.

After the first few weeks I will publish the results on the web site www.tva.org.au – please check them to make sure the results were recorded correctly – typo’s do happen! I will also put the results table up on the wall in the blue gym for people to read.

Do I need to fill out a registration form?

Every player and coach must be registered with Volleyball Qld. Later this week we will be updating our web site to be able to handle online registrations. Your registration fee is included in your season fees.

How much do I have to pay?

If you have any questions, or would like to be added to the mailing list, please contact me at admin@tva.org.au.
