LIVE UPDATES: La Salle vs UST – UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball Final Four 

MANILA, Philippines – Can La Salle finally complete its payback against last year’s tormentor UST?

Armed with a twice-to-beat advantage, the Lady Spikers look to send the Tigresses packing as they meet once again in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, May 3. 

La Salle and UST are fresh off their playoff match for the No. 2 spot last Wednesday, April 30, where the Lady Spikers emerged triumphant in a nail-biting four-setter, 23-25, 25-20, 30-28, 29-27, to secure the win-one bonus.

It’s a reversal of roles between La Salle and UST in this year’s Final Four as last season, it was the Tigresses who enjoyed a twice-to-beat edge, eliminating the then defending champion Lady Spikers in just one semifinal game.  

“We rewrote our story. With this new team, we know that we can go all the way to the end. This is just a confidence booster,” said La Salle star Shevana Laput.

“This shows that we are capable,” she added.

As La Salle tries to get the job done in just one game, expect a vengeful UST squad on the other side as it seeks to redeem itself and correct its mistakes from the previous game to stay alive.

In their playoff for No. 2 last Wednesday, UST had multiple chances to extend the match to a deciding set, but failed to capitalize on those golden opportunities late in the fourth as La Salle went on to steal the victory.
