Problems with LOVB Live stream spark fan outcry

0 29
League One Volleyball suffered a PR nightmare on Saturday night when its proprietary LOVB Live stream from Omaha proved balky, causing an outcry from fans.
LOVB addressed the issue in a post distributed at 8:33 p.m. Central across its social-media accounts (see the screenshot below from X, formerly Twitter).
I encountered no issues watching either of the double-header matches from the Liberty First Credit Union Arena in the Omaha suburb of Ralston on my desktop computer. When I saw the reports of dissatisfied users having problems, I tried loading the Austin-Omaha nightcap on my tablet. I was able to get a picture and sound but it took a long time and then abruptly konked out.
The object lesson here for startup League One Volleyball is that the last thing fans want to go wrong in the Internet Age is their live feed.

Evidence the eye can see (in the accompanying photo) can be found that even fans in volleyball-mad Omaha did not flock in vast numbers to watch the neutral-court LOVB match on Saturday afternoon between the teams representing Atlanta and Madison.
The Omaha squad played its first home match at the cozy Liberty First Credit Union Arena in suburban Ralston on Friday night and a sellout of 3,446 was announced. Omaha and Austin meet later on Saturday night, when more fans are likely to attend.
I saw a similar turnout a week ago In Madison at the venerable Wisconsin Field House for the double-header match that did not involve the home team.
