AVP Manhattan Beach Open: Olympians, defending champs spice main-draw field
The AVP Manhattan Beach Open main draw begins Friday with eight pairs from each side that got through Thursday’s grueling qualifier.
The men’s pairs that advanced were Dylan Maarek and Lev Priima, Tate Calles and Brendan Onishcenko, Tyler Penterthy and Garrett Peterson, Ian Carlson and Skylar del Sol, Wyatt Harrison and Brian Miller, Nathaniel Miller and Adam Roberts, TJ Jurko and Ian Satterfield, and Adam Hartmann and Andrew Holman.
The women’s pairs that got through were Chloe Loreen and Natalie Robinson, Parker Bracken and Kaeli Crews, Katie Spieler and Torrey Van Winden, Ella Gray and Madison Shields, Madelyne Anderson and Marine Kinna, Sara Putt and Tiffany Svenssohn, Emma Donley and Hannah Fleming, and Kennedy Coakley and Brook Sweat.
The main draw includes all four USA Olympics pairs, Miles Partain and Andy Benesh, Chase Budinger and Miles Evans, Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss, and Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes. Also in the competition are the defending champions, Betsi Flint and Julia Scoles and Taylor Crabb and Taylor Sander. The field includes Tokyo Olympic gold-medalists and new moms April Ross and Alix Klineman.
