When Archie Williams outside hitter Elsa Snipes’ 25th kill of the day hit the hardwood, her thunderous spike made it clear: the San Anselmo school had clinched its first-ever state volleyball title.

Archie Williams rallied out of a first-set hole in the State Division III title game on Saturday to defeat Buckley in a four-set thriller, 16-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 at Santiago Canyon College in Orange County. The team reduced its errors and mounted an offense that pushed past and around Buckley’s defenders.

Snipes also contributed a strong defensive effort with 12 digs. Libero Phoebe Galland led the defense with 15 digs. Setter Reece Fraser tallied 48 assists and nine kills. Outside hitter Lindsey Jones logged 15 kills.

Archie Williams’ win gave Marin teams a 2-0 record in state title games this season. Branson won the Division I title in five sets Friday.
