[Volleyball] Volleyball Splits in Sioux City

Doane Volleyball played a pair of games on Saturday, taking on Briar Cliff in a conference match and Cottey in a non-conference battle. The Tigers dropped the BCU match in five sets and followed with a sweep of Cottey.

Against the Chargers, Doane dropped the first two sets before battling back to force a five-set match. Game scores were 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 19-25, 15-9, in Briar Cliff's favor.

Gabby Menghini (SR/North Platte, Neb.) led the Tigers with 22 kills while adding 18 digs in the match. Genna Ryan-Piasecki (SR/Castle Rock, Colo.) added 14 kills and Kirsten Bures (JR/Odell, Neb.) finished with nine kills. Jordan Bolte (FR/Bruning, Neb.) led the setters with 40 assists.

In the back row, Reagan Petersen (SR/Syracuse, Neb.) had a match-high 20 digs and Joslyn Crow (SR/Hershey, Neb.) added 14 digs. Simonie Mendenhall (JR/Clancy, Mont.) was in on four of the team's five blocks in the match.

Doane made quick work of the Comets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-8, 25-17. The Tigers hit .304 as a team. Menghini led the Tigers with 10 kills while Mendenhall and Ryan-Piasecki posted seven kills apiece. Bolte dished out 31 assists.

Defensively, Petersen collected a match-high 13 digs as Doane finished with 34 for the match. The Tigers had 6.0 team blocks. Posting three assist blocks apiece were Mendenhall, Ryan-Piasecki, and Bolte.

Doane will close out the regular season on Tuesday, November 2, when they travel to Fremont to take on Midland. A win or a Hastings loss on that day will put the Tigers in the GPAC tournament.
